XXIII General Chapter - July 2nd |
Monday July 2nd 07 God loved the world so much... “we will therefore go wherever the charity of Jesus Christ is pleased to call us” ( Letter of Emilie d´Oultremont, d´Hooghvorst, Foundress of the Congregation of Marie Reparatrice/Mary Reparatrix) On this anniversary date, so memorable for us, we begin the journey of our Chapter in a practical way. Just as in Emilie´s time when the internationality of the congregation was very real, so to-day, more than ever, we are experiencing the richness of our different cultures and also the necessity of getting to know one another better. To meet myself in a personal moment is not so difficult, but my goodness, it is truly difficult to overcome language barriers! We feel close at heart, but we want to know one another better. We have many questions which we long to address to those whom we meet for the first time. Miraculously, our enthusiasm helps us to speak with gestures! Each one of us gathered here from different parts of the world has at some moment in her personal history, experienced the call to follow Jesus through a life of reparation. Experience tells us that we can be fulfilled when we live this mission each day. In small groups each one shared her own particular way of living and expressing this mission and this was a source of great joy for us. So as to walk confidently along an unknown way a considerable amount of time was give to working out procedures and structures for facilitating our work. We approved the Chapter procedure which will serve as a concrete tool for guiding us in our discernment. We elected the sisters who will render services for the smooth running of the Chapter: Secretariat : S.Elisabeth Chasteau (Region of Mauritius/Rodrigues) Co-ordinating Committee: S.Begoña Barandiaran (Province of Northern Spain/Italy) S.Immaculate Nakato (Region of Uganda, Kenya, Republic of Congo) Scrutineers : S.Ma Guadalupe Chavarria (Province of Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba) S.Eugenie Rasaomandefitra (Region of Madagascar)
