ONE OF THE APOSTOLATES DONE BY THE COMMUNITY OF BENI CONGO
By Sr. Immaculate Wambui
I have embraced working with young mothers living around Beni, in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. I do visit their homes and talk with their families on the issues of hygiene, feeding their children on a balanced diet. Etc
On 23rd June, one of our poor women gave birth to triplex: A girl and 2 boys, they were born premature, as a community animated by the spirit of reparation, we could not sit and watch but we took initiative and bought powdered milk for them in order to gain weight and God is good, after three weeks they gained the required kilos and they were discharged from the hospital.
We faced the challenges of buying warm cloths for the babies, feeding bottles, beddings and feeding their mother who had run short of blood and her health was in danger of death so for that matter we bought for her millet flour, greens rich in iron and some medication recommended by the doctor for increase of blood.
This family lives in a small muddy house on small plot belonging to one of their relatives; they lack basic needs such as food, clothes and medication. None of the parents is employed, they relay on working in the garden of which the rebels have recently attacked and they can not work any more there neither to obtain food from there. The community is continually accompanying this family sharing the little they have. Kindly we request our sisters to assist us in this apostolate.
