Sister Perla Garanganao SMR, retiring Chaplain at the North Tyneside General Hospital, took the first opportunity to introduce her team to her successor at an informal lunch at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in West Monkseaton.
Sister Perla will give up her post at the end of April, when newly appointed Fr David Nixon, a Sacred Heart Missionary priest, will take her place at the Chaplaincy Department in North Tyneside and Wansbeck General Hospitals.
During her thirteen years at the Hospital, Sister Perla, who hands over at the end of April, has built up a strong team of Special Ministers who will continue to support Fr Nixon. The two are currently working together to ensure that the change of Chaplain is made as smoothly as possible.
