MASS FOR THE YEAR OF CONSECRATEDLIFE IN THE MARIE REPARATRICE CONVENT, SUNDAY THE 1ST FEBRUARY

This year of 2015, our Chapel was chosen to be the venue to celebrate the Mass for the year of Consecrated Life, chief concelebrant being Bishop Brendan Leahy, assisted by Bishop Emeritus, Donal. Murray and priests of the various congregations. The Master of Ceremonies was Fr. Frank Downes O.P. who also ably led the singing. The packed congregation of approx. 150 was warmly welcomed by Sr. Mary Henihan, community leader, who then invited all to a cup of tea after the Mass. The readings were given by Sr. Kathleen. P.B.V.M.and Brother Senan C.F.C. The psalm was sung by Sr. Pauline Clarke, S.M.R. and the intercessory prayers led by Sr. Sarah, S.S.J. and other members of different congregations. Sr. Anne Dillon, Visitation Sr. and Sr. Marie, F.C.J. took up the bread and wine respectively. Among those administering Holy Communion and the Chalice were Sr. Teresa, Good Shepherd Sr., Sisters Josephine Toal and Pauline Dean, S.M.R. After Holy Communion a reflection from the writings of Thomas Merton was read by Salesian Sister, Mary Brigid.

Bishop Brendan delivered a very inspiring and encouraging homily which gave food for thought as the celebration of Consecrated Life continued over a cup of tea in all our available dining areas. There was a marvelous spirit of good will, joy and bonding as people chatted to each other, rekindled friendships and made new friends.

Enclosed photos are a flavour of the day.
